01

Choose the right direction

Use VAT-exclusive for a net quote. Use VAT-inclusive when the amount already contains the standard tax.

02

Keep the tax base visible

Quantity, discount and taxable extras remain separate so you can reconcile the result instead of trusting a black box.

03

Confirm the classification

The 14% arithmetic can be exact while the tax treatment is wrong. Check exemptions and special rates before issuing a document.

Calculation boundary

Standard-rate arithmetic, not tax classification.

Law 149 of 2026 retains the general 14% VAT rate. ETA’s electronic-document guidance calculates sales from quantity and unit price, applies commercial discounts to reach net sales, and adds VAT to the taxable amount. Masr Pocket mirrors that simple standard-rate path and shows a five-decimal reconciliation.

The tool was checked on 2026-08-29. It is not an ETA e-invoice generator and does not cover exempt, zero-rated or specially taxed supplies.

Frequently asked questions

What is Egypt's standard VAT rate?

The general rate is 14%. Law 149 of 2026 replaced Article 3 while retaining the 14% general rate that applies from fiscal year 2017/2018.

How do I add 14% VAT?

Choose “Prices exclude VAT”. The calculator applies discounts, adds the taxable extras you enter, and multiplies that taxable base by 14%.

How do I remove VAT from a tax-inclusive total?

Choose “Prices include VAT”. The calculator divides the inclusive amount by 1.14, then shows the difference as the VAT component.

Can this decide whether my product is taxable?

No. Exemptions, zero-rated supplies, Table Tax, withholding tax, medical-equipment rules and other special treatments require the correct legal classification.

Does this create an ETA e-invoice?

No. It is a private estimate and does not issue, sign, submit or validate an electronic invoice or receipt.
